Who are we

Meet our team

Hunting Snows is currently led by Jamison Thies, founder of Snows Down Low and a long-time contributor to snow goose hunting culture, product development, and community education. The platform is being rebuilt with the intent to expand, bringing in experienced hunters, writers, guides, and contributors who value practical experience, honest discussion, and knowledge worth preserving.

Our Story

How did we
get here?

Hunting Snows began in the early days of online forums as one of the premier destinations for snow goose hunting. Long before social media, it was where serious hunters gathered to share tactics, field reports, gear discussions, and hard-earned lessons from the conservation season. For years, the site served as a living archive of snow goose hunting knowledge, built through long-form discussion and real-world experience rather than hype.

As social platforms rose and forum culture declined, Hunting Snows slowly went quiet. Around 2014, participation faded, content stalled, and the site eventually fell dormant. Like many early hunting forums, it was not replaced by something better, just fragmented across social feeds, comment threads, and short-lived posts that were never meant to preserve knowledge.

Today, Hunting Snows is being rebuilt with intention.

Under the guidance of Jamison Thies, founder of Snows Down Low, the platform is returning as a modern snow goose hunting resource while staying true to its roots. The goal is not nostalgia, but restoration: bringing back a centralized place for forums, articles, outfitter listings, gear reviews, recipes, and community-driven content that values depth, accuracy, and experience.

Hunting Snows exists to preserve what social media cannot: searchable knowledge, honest discussion, and the culture of snow goose hunting passed from one season to the next.

  • “Snow goose hunting isn’t something you master in a season. It’s learned through repetition, mistakes, and shared experience. Hunting Snows exists so that knowledge is available, searchable, and passed on to the next hunter.”
